Loopkeeper — Support

Knitting & crochet counters with the pattern right there — yours, private, synced.

About Loopkeeper

Loopkeeper keeps your place in a pattern: import a PDF or photo, drag the row marker to the line you are on, highlight repeats, and count rows with big counters that roll into repeat counters. Projects sync between your iPhone and iPad through your own iCloud.

Frequently asked

Do I need an account?

No. Loopkeeper uses your iCloud account for sync. There is no Loopkeeper account, no sign-up and no subscription.

Where are my patterns stored?

On your devices and in your private iCloud (CloudKit). They are never uploaded to any Loopkeeper server — there isn't one — and never shared with anyone. Loopkeeper does not re-host or redistribute patterns.

What is free and what is the unlock?

Free: two projects and one pattern per project, with full export. A single one-time purchase unlocks unlimited projects and patterns. No subscription, ever.

I bought the unlock on my iPhone; my iPad says I haven't.

Open Settings → Restore purchase on the iPad. The unlock is tied to your Apple Account, so every device signed in with it can restore.

How does undo work with linked counters?

Undo takes back exactly your last tap on this device — including the rollover it caused on the linked repeat counter — and nothing else. If you also tapped the repeat counter directly in between, that change stays.

Can I back everything up or move to a new device?

Yes. Settings → Export everything gives you a folder with every project as JSON plus every pattern file exactly as you imported it. On the new device, choose Import and pick the whole export folder. Projects already present on a device are left unchanged.

Does the row marker move by itself when I count?

No. A PDF has no idea where its rows are, so Loopkeeper never guesses: you drag the marker, Loopkeeper counts. The marker stays exactly where you put it.

I counted on two devices while offline. Will rows be lost?

No. Every tap is saved as its own small record, so rows counted on your iPhone and your iPad while they were apart are all kept once they sync. If both devices stepped a counter down past zero at the same time, the extra step is simply ignored.

Apple Watch?

Not in the first version. It is planned, and the counter design is prepared for it.
